I’m going to tell you about another of my very favourite walks, the Forestry Commission Scotland trails at Cambus O’May, between Dinnet and Ballater.
It’s one of Mum’s favourite walks too, although I suspect that is because it’s right next to the Riverside Cottage, where she can pick up some lovely homemade soup, cakes and great coffee afterwards.
If you are heading from the Aboyne side, it’s very easy to find. It’s on your right, just after the famous suspension bridge and is well signposted.
Depending on how much time we have, we can follow one of three trails.
We normally take the red one, which is really beautiful and takes just under an hour (or even less if Mum is really keen to get her latte at the end!).
Here’s a photo of me just checking that I’m going the right way. It’s all very well signposted.
Before Mum gets her latte, I get a lovely drink from the burn. We can then decide if we are going to head back down the hill on the red trail or continue a bit further on the yellow one.
Finally, there is a very pretty bridge to cross over on the way back to the car park.
Please do try these walks – I’m sure you will enjoy them.
